چکیده

In this paper, an approach for 3D motion estimation of head and shoulders of persons in videophone sequences is presented. Since head and shoulders are linked together by the neck, constraints for the motion of head and shoulders exist which are exploited to improve the motion estimation. In this paper, the human neck joint is modelled by a spherical joint between head and shoulders and its 3D position is calculated. Then, rotation and translation of the shoulders are estimated and propagated to the head. Finally, a rotation of the head around the neck joint is estimated. The presented approach is applied to the videophone sequences Akiyo and Claire. Compared with an approach without using a neck joint, anatomically correct positions of head and shoulders are estimated.

A Complete Model–based Video Coder for Coding of Videophone Sequences at Very Low Bit Rates

In this paper, a model–based video coder for coding of head–and–shoulders videophone sequences at very low bit rates is presented. A source model is defined representing head and shoulders of the human person by 3D object components and the face by a pre–defined 3D face model. Each object component is described by 3D shape, 3D motion and texture parameters. Scaling parameters describe the adapt...

On motion modeling and estimation for very low bit rate video coding

In video coding at high compression rates, e.g., in very low bit rate coding, every transmitted bit carries a signii-cant amount of information that is related either to motion parameters or to intensity residual. As demonstrated in the SIM-3 coding scheme, a more precise motion model leads to improved quality of coded images when compared with the H.261 coding standard. In this paper, we prese...

Precise Face Model Adaptation for Semantic Coding of Videophone Sequences

In this contribution, an algorithm for the automatic adaptation of a 3D face model for semantic coding of videophone sequences at very low bit rates is presented. After automatic estimation of facial features from an image sequence, the face model is adapted to the eyes, mouth, eyebrows, nose and to the chin and cheek contours of the person’s face in the sequence. Applying the presented algorit...

Computation Optical Flow Using Pipeline Architecture

Accurate estimation of motion from time-varying imagery has been a popular problem in vision studies, This information can be used in segmentation, 3D motion and shape recovery, target tracking, and other problems in scene analysis and interpretation. We have presented a dynamic image model for estimating image motion from image sequences, and have shown how the solution can be obtained from a ...
